Medisave contribution ceiling also revised in change from July

SINGAPORE — The Central Provident Fund (CPF) and Ministry of Manpower today (Tuesday) announced adjustments to the CPF Minimum Sum, Medisave Minimum Sum and Medisave Contribution Ceiling effective from July 1.

CPF members who turn 55 years of age between July 1 and June 30 next year will need to set aside a Minimum Sum (MS) of S$148,000 in their Retirement Account (RA).

SINGAPORE — Foreign Minister K Shanmugam said the result of the Malaysian General Elections is a “good win” for Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Mr Shanmugam was speaking to reporters on a sidelines of a road safety event at Endeavour Primary School.

The red-shirt protest against the Constitution Court appeared to be faltering Tuesday after the ruling Pheu Thai Party and other red-shirt groups distanced themselves from the rally.

A Pheu Thai Party source said the protest, led by the Radio Broadcasters for Democracy movement, lacked cooperation from major figures in the party who have a key role in mobilising supporters in the provinces.

The protest is expected to end shortly since it is estimated the turnout will fall short of the 100,000 that the movement wanted, the source said.

The Democrat Party slammed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Anudith Nakornthap on Monday for his threat to silence websites that allow criticism of the prime minister.

Opposition leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said he was surprised by Gp Capt Anudith's threat.

It was a violation of democratic principles and at odds with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's promise in her controversial speech in Mongolia to promote democracy in Thailand.
