Not everyone is happy about a proposal to involve SOE contractors in the Sunda Strait bridge project. Naysayers think investors will not be pleased.
THE fate of the mammoth Sunda Strait bridge and strategic zone has become uncertain. Enthusiasm about the prospect for the project to begin this year has slowly faded. "Its golden moment has now passed," Artha Graha Network Director Wisnu Tjandra told Tempo in an e-mail. Artha Graha Network is a subsidiary of Sunda Strait project initiator Graha Banten Lampung Sejahtera.
Wisnu said the basic design and feasibility study for the project should have started last year, so that construction could begin in 2014 in line with the government's timeline. Funding commitments were already made by China, the United States, Japan and South Korea.
